I am curious as to what your background is - have you had experience in this area?

While reading a book written by a well-respected counselor years ago, the author stated that if people took more time to truly relate to and support each other, there would not be much need for counselors. There would still be some need, but far less than is currently used.

I have found that though some counseling that I received over the years was beneficial, I receive the most benefit from the deep friendships I have formed - the friendships where people can say to each other what they really think because they want the best for each other. I have also found that without the support of friends, the lessons learned in counseling often go by the wayside.

So both are needed, and this camp would strive to provide the support which in turn would lead to networking opportunities to find counseling where necessary.
