We think differently, but we aren’t aliens!

My favorite search string that brought someone to my blog today: “Do people with Asperger’s Syndrome feel pain?”

What do you say, all of you with AS? I guess I should appreciate the fact that someone is trying to understand us. That is good. But, really? Of course we feel pain. We may react to it differently than expected for many reasons. See my post titled, “Asperger’s and Pain.”

I found out that I have Autism upon having a son with the same "disorder." Ironically, I was voted, "Most Likely to Succeed," by my high school classmates. But had I been born now, instead of 40+ years ago, I would have been considered a different sort of special. This site was started to encourage other Autistics and the people who love them .

  1. Wow. People are really that ill-informed???

I carry a cut-out letter in my purse to use as a visual aid when I try to make people understand how dyslexics think spatially. (I usually say “in 3-D” because that’s a concept most people can wrap their thoughts around). Once I explain it, they usually get it. So let’s just keep educating folks, one at a time, til they understand. 🙂
