Things might not always go the way you were hoping, but you will be closely connected to the One who can help you through the disappointment and give you the strength to carry on.
However, there are many times He does answer when we take the time to ask something that we perceive to be His will.
Here are some examples from the past few weeks in my life.
Several days ago I was concerned about a family member. I prayed very firmly in Jesus name that they would hear God and move in the direction of His love, and I begged Jesus to please take care of them. Within seconds God let me know that He had answered – I received an upbeat text from my dear one.
This morning I was reading an email from a friend about a concerning piece of legislation that was to be voted on, and most likely approved today. I thought a short, deeply felt prayer then typed that I would be praying and writing letters. Mid response I happened to glance up at the TV and saw the announcement that the legislation was tabled for today! It is supposed to now be voted on tomorrow. So I will continue to pray.
Oh, God just reminded me of another issue in my community that I am concerned about. I was praying and writing letters to the decision makers back in 2019. That issue was supposed to have been resolved in what I considered a less-than-satisfactory manner in 2020, but the pandemic got in the way. Other things took priority after the pandemic, so it is still not resolved. So I will continue to pray.
And how could I have forgotten the prayer said out of obedience, with very little faith. A friend’s child was having a difficult time at school, and a lot of it had to do with the school leadership. Things had been going downhill at the school for a number of years under this person’s extreme directorship.
The only thing that my friend and I could think of was to ask God to bring in a healthier leader, but we didn’t really see that as possible. However, we acknowledged to God that He is the God of the impossible, so we, in faith asked him to bring a new, good leader for the school. Wouldn’t you know, but three days later that director resigned!
Daniel prayed for 21 days, a multiple of 7, meaning that it is an example to pray unceasingly. His prayers moved the angels in heaven (Daniel 10).
So keep praying!
