A day or so ago my son and I ended up talking about his relationship with God. His comment was something like, “I like God and all, but I don’t want him in every part of my life. I mean, sometimes I just need to be alone and not be bothered by anyone.”
I chuckled with understanding. “You know what, I had that same conversation with God not so many years ago. I felt like He was always pestering me, and not giving me the rest I needed. But he told me that if I do what He asks of me, He will make sure that I have the time I need to rest and be alone. He knows that I need that. And He knows that you need that too, because He made us, after all. So follow what God asks of you and you will have plenty of time to rest and be alone, too.”
So whether you are like me, or the opposite of me, and need a lot of social interaction, remember that God knows.
Hey there, I was googling ‘devotions for kids with aspergers’ and stumbled upon you. Great. My 6 year old son has AS. Thanks for the post. =)
