and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry
and satisfy the needs of the oppressed,
then your light will rise in the darkness,
and your night will become like the noonday.
Isaiah 58:10
When I am feeling down, it is usually because I am bored, so I start asking God where I can serve. Sometimes it is as simple as folding laundry for my family (which I need to get to so this post is going to be short!) or talking with my kids about their interests (which aren’t always mine). Other times it is making a meal for a friend who has an ill family member. You get the picture.
Be still, know that He is God, He loves you and has a plan.
OK, time to get to that laundry!
That went quickly to the point, and is so true. Putting one’s mind on the needs of others and then doing something about it. Good plan. Is the next load ready to be folded and put away yet? That’s ongoing, isn’t it?

That sure is, isn’t it! All is folded now. Time to start some new loads – probably dark colors as the guys clothes really adds up fast.

in actual practice, it can be highly annoying to a hubby who wishes every once in awhile that I would just sit down AND I admit that I have to be conscious and aware of enjoying the spontaneity of my children sometimes rather than my ever-growing ToDo list.. but I admit that my house does always seem to be an adventure of one kind or another.

I am just a bit amused to realize that as I’m reading these words, I find it far easier to relate to depression than I can to boredom.. I can at least find times in my life of emotional lows that at least provide glimpses into the challenges of chronic depression – however, I simply cannot recall any time in my life where I was bored. (I’m sure there are times that I can’t remember) but as a type A busy person, boredom is simply not something I’ve managed to allow into my daily practice..
However, I STRONGLY relate to post-poning the folding of the laundry .. *sigh*
